I used 2014-2015 FCPS elementary classroom enrollment data to demonstrate dissolving AAP center will increase needs for classroom teachers and facilities. There are 28 elementary AAP centers (see list at FCPS website: http://www.fcps.edu/is/aap/centers.shtml). In average, AAP class size is larger than GE class by 2 to 3 students. Assume all AAP classes now have the same class size as GE classes, almost all AAP center need to add 1 class – this is equal to $67,000/yr teacher salary (assume 10 year experience with college degree, see FCPS 2015 pay scale http://www.fcps.edu/hr/salary/pdf/fy15/FY15Nov260dayTeacher.pdf) and cost for rent/construct additional classroom space. Here are some highlights for classroom size comparison:
    – ARCHER ELEM AAP 26 per class x12 classes vs. GE 23: need 1.5 more class
    – COLVIN RUN ELEM AAP 26 per class x12 classes vs. GE 23: need 1.5 more class
    – GREENBRIAR WEST ELEM AAP 27 per class x22 classes vs. GE 25: need 1.8 more class
    – HAYCOCK ELEM AAP 25 per class x14 classes vs. GE 23: need 1 more class
    – HUNTERS WOODS ELEM AAP 26 per class x15 classes vs. GE 24: need 1.5 more class
    – MANTUA ELEM AAP 26 per class x10 classes vs. GE 25: same
    – MOSBY WOODS ELEM AAP 26 per class x13 classes vs. GE 24: need 1.3 more class
