Formed in the State of Virginia as a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious independent organization pursuant to the section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, the Chinese American Parent Association of Fairfax County (CAPA-FC) is committed as a powerful voice for education, health and well-being of children from the families of Chinese heritage and communities living in Fairfax County and a valuable channel to cultivate meaningful partnerships among Chinese parents, students and educators in Fairfax Country Public Schools (FCPS).
Since its inception in late 2015, we have successfully mobilized and supported hundreds of Chinese parents in their active participation in and meaningful contributions to activities and events concerning our children, schools and communities in Fairfax County. We organized a number of information seminars to facilitate the communication between Fairfax County School Board candidates and Chinese parents at Marshall High School. We invited FCPS board member Jane Strauss and FCPS budget director Carol Hurley to give information seminars and hosted open discussions with our concerned parents. We have been advocating for and providing assistance with Chinese parents’ participation in public comment sessions during regular FCPS school board meetings. Many Chinese parents including several CAPA-FC board members made impactful speeches at a number of FCPS School Board public comment sessions and we made the voices of Chinese parents heard aloud.
As a volunteer-based organization, we would like to solicit your support to help sustain and grow CAPA-FC by considering an end-of-year donation. Your contribution will be 100% tax deductible and will effectively enable this grassroots movement to continue its impact and momentum as a powerful voice for Chinese families living in Fairfax County. On behalf of our children, we thank you for your support and generosity in advance!
