“Cooper MS offers a wide range of electives and after school programs designed to provide the enriched and engaging learning experiences that are a hallmark of AAP Centers.
Electives offered include Technology-Coding, Theater, Music, Visual Art, Leadership, Journalism, and World Languages. Cooper currently offers French, Spanish, German, and Japanese/Japanese Immersion through the World Language program. If there is sufficient interest in the community, the principal will consider offering Chinese and Latin.
After School Programs and Clubs include Science Olympiad, Model UN, Math Counts, Newspaper, Drama, Girls in Engineering Mathematics and Science (GEMS), History Club, American Mathematics Competitions (AMC), Literary Magazine, Student Government, Eco Team, Civics Club, Chess Club, Yearbook, National Junior Honor Society, Project BEST (Building Excitement for Science and Technology), Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Kindness Club, Open Library, and Computer Club
In addition, Cooper MS has developed inquiry and problem/project based learning opportunities that are embedded in the curriculum. This dynamic approach to teaching and learning increases student engagement through authentic problem solving, collaboration with peers, and interdisciplinary experiences. Project Based Learning allows students to actively explore real-world problems and challenges in order to acquire deeper knowledge and understanding. ”
